Who runs MemoryMend

Email is the way, and it reaches a person rather than a queue. Most messages are answered the same day, and all of them are answered.

There is no contact form, no chat bubble that opens itself and no ticket number. If you have written to us before, replying to that message is the fastest route back to the same person.

The link to your own page, if you have one — it identifies the order without your having to describe it. If the repair is the problem, say what is wrong with it in your own words. We would rather have three sentences than a form.

The business is run from Germany by the person named above, which is why the terms send a dispute to German courts and why no sales tax is added to what you pay. Prices are shown in dollars and charged in dollars.

That also settles a question worth asking before you send anything: the photographs sit under European data protection law, which is the strictest of the three sets we work under. The privacy page says which companies see a file and for how long.

We are answerable for what we write and publish here. A photograph you upload is not published: it sits behind a link nobody else is given, and it is deleted on the schedule the privacy page sets out.

If something on this site is wrong, or belongs to somebody who did not agree to it being here, write and say so. It comes down while we look into it, not afterwards.

A few pages point at somebody else's — a museum, an archive, a manufacturer. We have no control over what is on the other end, and whoever runs those pages answers for them. They were sound when we linked to them, and we cannot watch them forever, but tell us one has gone bad and the link goes.

The words and the design here are ours. Your photographs and the repairs made from them are yours, which the terms say at greater length.

Every before-and-after on this site is our own pipeline's work on a real damaged photograph, shown with the written permission of the family it belongs to. There is no stock photography anywhere on the site and there never will be.
