How we handle your photographs

This page is the plain version, and it is the one that binds us. It says what the software does with your photographs, because that is what you are actually asking when you read a privacy policy.

Two things are worth knowing before the detail. The print stays in your house — we only ever see a scan. And everything you send is deleted on a schedule you can shorten to now with one button.

What we keep

Less than you would expect, because there are no accounts here. There is no password to lose and no profile to build.

  • Your email address, so we can send the repairs back to you.
  • The photographs you upload, and the repairs we make from them.
  • The order itself: which pack, what you paid, which market, the kind of damage you tapped, and the times things happened.
  • The two-letter country code your request arrived with. Recorded because a country split will matter one day; it changes nothing about what you are shown or charged.
  • For a free repair only: the address your request came from, and a fingerprint of the photograph. Both exist to stop one person taking a hundred free repairs, and nothing else reads them.
  • Whether you told us the repair came out right, and the reason you picked if you answered the follow-up.

Why we keep it

To do the repair and give it back to you. To take the payment. To answer you when you write in. To keep the free repair free by making casual abuse of it more trouble than it is worth.

There is no other reason. Nothing here is kept because it might be useful later.

Who else is involved

We are a small business and we do not run our own machines. These companies hold or handle part of what you send, each for one job:

  • A storage provider holds the files while your order is open.
  • The repair itself runs at a specialist provider, which receives the photograph for that one step. Some of these companies are outside your country.
  • Stripe takes the payment. Card numbers never reach us at all.
  • An email provider sends the two or three messages your order produces.
  • Our host runs the website and the database behind it.

How long it stays

A paid order: thirty days from the day it is finished, and then the photographs you sent and the repairs are deleted together.

A free repair: seven days, whether or not you ever come back for it.

Sooner, whenever you like: the page your photographs come back on has a button that empties our storage immediately. It cannot be undone, so download anything you want first.

What survives that is the order record — your email address, what you paid, and when. A business has to be able to show what it sold and to whom, and a refund conversation needs it. It holds no photograph.

What we never do

We do not sell anything about you, and there is nobody to sell it to. No advertising network, no data broker, no affiliate.

We do not put your photographs on this site. Every before and after here is a photograph we hold written permission to publish, and yours will never join them unless you offer.

We do not build anything out of your photographs. They are repaired, returned and deleted.

Cookies, and what your browser is asked to keep

Nothing, which is why there is no banner sitting on top of this page. Reading the site puts nothing on your computer and takes nothing off it. There are no advertising cookies here, no tracking pixels, and no third party watching you read.

Page views are counted, because we need to know which pages get read. The count is taken from the request as it arrives, at our own address, and leaves no marker behind, so nobody is recognized from one visit to the next.

Paying happens on Stripe's own pages rather than ours. Whatever they keep is kept there, under their notice, and we can neither read it nor switch it off.

One cookie exists in our software: the sign-in that lets us open the order screen ourselves. It is never set on a customer's browser.

If that ever changes, and something not strictly necessary has to be stored on your device, we will ask before it happens, and saying no will cost you nothing that you came here for.

What you can ask for

Deletion is the one you can do yourself, with the button on your own page, and it is immediate.

For anything else — a copy of what we hold, a correction, or a question about any of the above — write to us. A person reads it and answers in plain language, usually the same day.

If we ever get this wrong, tell us first if you can bear to. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live, and you do not have to come to us first.

Children

This is a service for adults buying repairs of family photographs. It is not built for children and we do not knowingly take orders from them.

When this page changes

The date at the bottom moves when the words do. If a change matters — a new recipient, a longer retention window — the customers it affects hear about it by email rather than by our editing a page quietly.

If any of this is unclear, that is our fault rather than yours. Write and ask, and we will fix the wording.
